Abstract
The objectives of this study were twofold. The first was an investigation of the use of the relatively new technique of brittle lacquer for determining quantitatively certain stress concentration factors. The succeeding objective, depending on satisfactory results of the first, was the actual determination of the factors of certain selected openings of particular shapes and sizes.
