Abstract
There are strong tutorial advantages to Digital Computer Simulation of Control System's problems. This is particularly true where such simulations do not require sophisticated. programming techniques and where the user may directly interact with his problem. The purpose of this study was to develop such a capability for the Naval Postgraduate School's direct-access Computer System. The installation was to be accomplished using the DES-1 Simulation Language and an SDS 9300 Digital Computer. The DES-1 software requires a special DES-1 Console for optimum performance. Due to the lack of this Console, a reformulation of the language was necessary. This process involved simulating the Console and revising the language to operate with existing hardware. The language was re-written and the revised system has been installed as an operating system. Complete documentation is available in the DES-1 Programming Manual, which was prepared as part of this study.
