Abstract
The subject of this thesis is diesel submarine tactics for performing an effective Bearing-only Target Motion Analysis while approaching a surface target, given the submarine's limited speed and battery endurance. The research is conducted through a Monte Carlo simulation. Each replication simulates a submarine's approach, attack and eventual torpedo release, to determine the success or failure of the attack. The number of successful attacks in every replication is a measure of effectiveness of the particular tactics employed. The simulation shows that a modem diesel submarine is capable of conducting a Bearing-only TMA while at the same time approaching a surface target.
