Abstract

In this Viewpoints segment, Angela English the executive director for Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities discusses how most of us will have a disability or experience a disability at some point in our lives. Angela English suggests that this is simply a part of the human experience. In this segment, we learn how emergency managers and homeland security officials can gain a great deal of relevant knowledge about resiliency from people who have disabilities. Angela English discusses her organization's disability stakeholder workgroups, which develop recovery, mitigation, repatriation strategies, as well as outreach and preparedness, integration services, and grant programs in relation to people with disabilities.
