Abstract
Marine navigation is the process of directing the movements of a vessel from one point to another. Historically, piloting, dead reckoning, and celestial methods have been used for this purpose. The earliest form of marine navigation was piloting, which came into being when man guided his vessel with respect to familiar landmarks.
