Abstract
Do you wonder where to start when sitting down to write your first paper in homeland security? This course teaches you how to write the introduction, body, and conclusion of an academic paper, how to distinguish stronger from weaker arguments, and how to support an argument in self-contained body paragraphs. Each module is approximately 10 minutes long, intermixing lecture with practice quizzes, color-coded examples of paragraphs, and short practice assignments. Module I covers the purpose, function, and elements of an academic paper. Module II breaks introductory paragraphs into their component parts with examples. Module III teaches how to write focused body paragraphs that support the main argument, and how to nail the conclusion in the first draft.
