Abstract
A statistical analysis was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the experimental program, RTC CREDO, to counter first-term enlisted attrition in the Navy.
The results of this study demonstrate that the RTC CREDO experiment was successful in reducing first-term enlisted attrition by 1.22 percent after 14 months of service when compared to a control group.
This difference was not statistically significant at the .05 level. The reduction in attrition gained by the RTC CREDO experiment appears at this time to be inefficient with respect to the cost of the program. It is recommended that the RTC CREDO program in its present form and with its preĀsent contribution toward reducing first-term attrition be discontinued, unless the difference
between control group and CREDO attrition rates increases markedly by the time the cohort finish their first enlistment periods.
