Abstract
A complete account is given of the experiences, observations and opinions of one member of a delegation from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics which visited aeronautics and propulsion activities in China in September 1980. Technical visits to, factories, research institutes and universities in Shanghai, Xian and Beijing are documented in detail. Observations and impressions of the country and the people are included and conclusions are drawn concerning the practicality of technical exchange at the basic research level.
