Abstract
Technology has a decisive influence on the daily lives of most of the world population. Historically, technology has moved from one part of the world to another by a continuous process or transfer. However, the resultant transference has been quite uneven in its geographical impact, and there is a concern that the 'technology gap' between the developed countries and the less-developed countries is widening. Concern about the widening of the gap and the need to increase the technology transfer process, is the very essence of the economic growth and development needs of less-developed countries. This Thesis will examine the gap, and an attempt will be made to determine guidelines, initiatives, and mechanisms to facilitate the transfer of U.S. technology to Latin America and specifically to Peru and Venezuela.
