    The NPS Biographical Collection is a growing file that includes records from the early years of the institution to the present.     The Earl Everett Stone Collection contains a number of items from the personal files of Rear Admiral Earl E. Stone. These items include photographs, newspaper clippings, official Navy documents, articles, and other assorted papers, and date from 1941 to Admiral Stone’s retirement in 1958, and possibly later. The collection includes photographs from almost all of Admiral Stone’s postings after the attack on Pearl Harbor, including the USS Wisconsin (BB-64), Training Command, Pacific Fleet, and the Naval Postgraduate School.

    Papers of J.P.T. Pearman (1918-2003)

    This inventory was created by Philip E. DePoy from a collection of the papers of J.P.T. Pearman, one of the first scientists to join the British Operational Research Section of the R.A.F. Coastal Command when it was formed under the leadership of Sir P.M.S. Blackett in 1941. This group is considered to be the first military operations research organization and was the model for the operations research groups that were established in the U.S. military during World War II..

    This collection is a legacy collection transferred to the Special Collections and Archives section of the Naval Postgraduate School’s (NPS) Dudley Knox Library (DKL) from the Public Affairs Office (PAO) in 2007. The collection consists of a World War II personal notebook compiled by Del Monte Pre-Flight School aviation cadet Sidney R. O’Neil. The notebook contains a cadet group photograph and training documents as well as personal correspondence from O’Neil to his mother in the early stages of WWII.

    This finding aid describes the "Abstracts on Radio Direction Finding / Full text documents on Radio Direction Finding" collection at the Dudley Knox Library. This legacy collection, originally created by the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), is composed of two parts. The first is a bibliography on Radio Direction Finding and closely related topics, containing approximately 16,300 abstracts. The abstracts cover publications from 1899 through 1995. In addition to the abstracts, there are 20-30 biographies of leading scientists and engineers who helped create direction finding as well as a glossary of terms. The bibliography has been converted for ease of researcher use, and may be downloaded from Calhoun at: https://calhoun.nps.edu/handle/10945/57321. The second half of the archive is a collection of full text documents on this topic, comprising a small ion of the documents listed in the bibliography.

    This collection consists of World War II aviation realia including a combat flight suit and flight gear of Lt.j.g. Ed Deutschman, a 1943 Del Monte Pre-Flight School aviation cadet who subsequently led the air attack at the Battle of Okinawa. The collection contains Deutschman’s aerology notes from the Del Monte Pre-Flight School and the combat flight gear he wore at Okinawa in April 1945.
