This thesis concentrates on the activities of the lobbyist to influence policy, largely through efforts to secure passage or defeat of congressional legislation. Where appropriate, it spotlights the activities o( the two largest business lobbying groups, the National Association of Manufacturers (HAM) and the Chamber oi Commerce oi the United States.
