Abstract
The simulation of the kinetic equations for the AGN-201 reactor was programmed on the Donner Model 3100 analog computer. The accuracy of the simulation was verified by comparison with both a digital computer solution of the kinetic equations and with the measured time response of the AGN-201 reactor. A discontinuous (on-off) type automatic flux control system was designed and placed in closed loop operation with the simulated reactor. The sensitivity of the control system was adjusted to obtain the specified performance. The control system was then installed on the AGN-201 and the accuracy of this design technique was verified by time response measurements. The control system proved to be a simple, effective device capable of maintaining the power (flux) level of the reactor within ± 3% of the desired level at all levels of reactor operation between 0.01 and 200 watts.

    A simplified cell theory applied to the calculation of thermal neutron spectra in light water lattices

    MacVean, Charles Robert (Ithaca, New York; Cornell University, 1964-09);
    A simplified polyenergetic cell theory is formulated to determine spatially averaged energy dependent thermal fluxes in the moderator, cladding, and fuel regions within the unit cell of a reactor lattice. The derived ...

    Cooperative Control of Multiple Space Manipulators

    Yale, G.; Agrawal, B.N. (1994);
    This paper concerns the cooperative control of multiple manipulators attached to the same base as they reposition a common payload. The theory is easily applied to inertially based problems as well as space based free-floating ...

    Study of a marine nuclear propulsion plant through computer simulation

    Clark, Hiram Ward, Jr.. (Monterey, California; Naval Postgraduate School, 1971-06);
    The dynamics of a proposed marine nuclear propulsion plant, under the condition of sudden changes in load, are studies by both an analog and digital simulation. Two inherent reactor characteristics, internal reactivity ...
