This thesis proposes a method of identifying the dynamics of ship angular motion at sea as the basis for ship motion estimation. Various sources of information are discussed. A digital model to simulate ship's motion is developed. Identification algorithms are presented with the results of thei stochastic digital simulation. Sensitivity of identification error to sample rate was investigated. A plan for shipboard implementation utilizing a digital computer is presented
