dc.description.abstract | The need for increased safety programs, particularly for the Navy, is discussed on the basis that technological advances and the high cost of accidents and changes in public policy regarding the responsibility for safety have led to increased federal legislation to provide protection to the worker and general public. Increasing safety programs have led to problems caused by deficiencies in safety personnel, both in qualification and number, to perform safety functions now required. A partial solution is to initiate and accelerate educational programs for safety personnel to provide necessary training for the extensive technical safety activities in the Navy. | en_US |
