dc.description.abstractThe second generation design of the Naval Postgraduate School's ocean floor geomagnetic data collection system is described with emphasis on modifications for improvement over its predecessor. These improvements include 15 channel parallel analog-to-serial pulse code modulation conversion, fiber optic data link, and radio telemetry to shore recording equipment. The system has flexibility in operating depth, an increase in data acquisition time, synchronization with land site data, and a data format that is readily converted to digital for computer assisted analysis.
