This thesis examines the background of ADPE maintenance and its application to the Government. the reasons for the changes within the computer hardware maintenance industry in the last decade are explored and their effects on the Federal Government presented. Three contracts currently in existence in the Government are presented and the performance of the maintenance vendors examined. The presentation of this data will provide insight to the reader in regard to different possibilities of hardware maintenance coverage available and tradeoffs that ADP managers must make in determining which coverage is best for their computer center.
