Abstract
Imagine a signal acquisition system composed of a number of receivers or sensors concurrently scanning the same domain for signals. It is reasonable to expect that different signals will each be detected by a different subset of receivers over the scanning period. Using the data collected from the receivers, it is possible to estimate the total signal population size including those signals not detected by any receiver. Additionally, it is possible to estimate the probability each individual receiver detects signals. Several estimators are developed for these quantities in the context of a model designed to represent the signal detection process. This model forms the basis for a simulation conducted to analyze the behavior of the estimators over a variety of conditions.

    Estimation of Sensor Detection Probabilities with Data from Concurrent Sensors

    Barr, D.R. (Monterey, California. Naval Postgraduate School, 1981-08); NPS55-81-014
    When several sensors are concurrently scanning the same domain for signals, varying numbers of sensors may detect each signal. On some occasions, a signal may not be detected by any of the receivers. Using detection data ...

    High Frequency (HF) radio signal amplitude characteristics, HF receiver site performance criteria, and expanding the dynamic range of HF digital new energy receivers by strong signal elimination

    Lott, Gus K., Jr. (Monterey, California: Naval Postgraduate School, 1990-06); NPS62-90-006
    The dissertation discusses High Frequency (HF) radio sources. It consolidates data from all available, published HF spectrum surveys. The author conducted a new HF survey using detection of new energy events. The first ...

    Detection and classification of low probability of intercept radar signals using parallel filter arrays and higher order statistics

    Taboada, Fernando L. (Monterey, California. Naval Postgraduate School, 2002-09);
    The term Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) is that property of an emitter that because of its low power, wide bandwidth, frequency variability, or other design attributes, makes it difficult to be detected or identified ...
