Crucial to the Naval mission, but administrative in nature, is the assignment of ship's company to temporary and permanent duty assignments. This study implements a personnel database system for personnel management on a small battle ship. dBASE III is used as a "Database Management Software" and the "System" is implemented as a collection of algorithms providing intelligent decisions about these assignments. It can be supported by an IBM PC/XT (or an IBM PC/XT compatible) microcomputer. The system is designed to provide real time management decision information on crew allocations, as well as required periodic reports, based on current crewmember information.
