Traditionally, courses in database systems do not use pedagogical software for the
purpose of instructing the database systems, despite the progress made in modem
database architecture.
In this thesis, we present a working document to assist in the instruction of a new
database system, the Multi-Backend Database System (MBDS)-and the Multi-Lingual
Database System (MLDS). As the course of instruction describes the creation and
manipulation of each language, this pedagogical aid will demonstrate, utilizing the live
database system, the procedures and methods learned in class.
