This thesis reviews existing tracking practices of Aviation Depot Level Repairables
iAV-DLRs) among selected Naval Air Reserve Squadrons on the west coast. It examines the
Jiterface between carcass tracking and financial management of AV-DLRs among Aviation Supnly
>epots and Naval Reserve Comptrollers. It appears that significant improvements have been
•ealized in AV-DLR tracking since AV-DLRs migrated from the Appropriations Purchase Account
o the Navy Stock Fund on 1 April 1985.
It is evident that a clear line of communication must be established and maintained
etween the carcass tracking function and the financial accounting function at the Reserve
lomptroller level so that better management decisions may be made.
It is equally clear that XR86 Program and NALCOMIS are effective adjuncts in the
anagement of AV-DLRs. A concerted effort should be directed toward implementing these
anagement tools in areas where they are not being utilized.
