The purpose of this thesis is to assist in the accreditation of the Janus(A) combat model for the post-test modeling phase of the Army's Model-Test-Model Concept. Specifically, the First Shot Engagement (FSE) and Opening Round Engagement (ORE) ranges from the September 1991 trials of the MlA2's Early Users Test and Experimentation are compared to similar ranges generated by the Janus(A) simulation model. The location and distributions of these ranges are compared using nonparametric procedures. A regression model using the results of the simulation model to predict the ORE range was developed and compared to the actual ORE ranges. The effects of the systematically varied test factors, such as a force's tactical posture and light conditions were also studied to determine if the simulation model could accurately predict their effects on the field test engagement ranges. An important conclusion of this thesis is that Janus(A) generates different engagement ranges than those observed in the September 1991 operational field test and that the model was unable to accurately predict the effects of the test factors.
