Minimizing and analyzing construction delay and its impacts: case studies and knowledge-based systems.
Abstract
This report will examine the fundamental principles associated with construction delay and recovering from the delay through actual acceleration. Methods for minimizing or eliminating construction delay and analyzing its impact on cost, quality, and timely completion of construction projects will be presented. A prototype expert system will be developed to assist the public and private owner in minimizing the possibility of construction delay. Additionally, two methods of schedule compression will be examined. A case study of the acceleration which occurred during construction of the Air Force One Maintenance and Support complex will be presented
