This thesis investigates the normal to superconducting transition time (hereafter called the backswitch
time) in thin films of indium.
Varying thicknesses of silicon monoxide have been
evaporated over the indium films and the effect of these
layers has been observed at different temperatures over
a considerable range of total current through the specimens.
