dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this thesis is to communicate a general knowledge of software engineering principles that can be applied to the development of a software system. Fundamental Software Engineering concepts are first discussed and then applied to a personnel database management system which is featured throughout the thesis. The individual tools and techniques that are used in each phase of the system development are widely known in the computer science community and each has been employed successfully in certain situations.
