This study examines the advantages and disadvantages associated with the consolidation of the Helicopter Antisubmarine (HS) and Helicopter Anti- submarine (Light) (HSL) communities. The primary source material is generated from personal interviews of the Commanding Officers of these communities. The helicopter and mission developments of each community are researched to determine the goals, environments and technology that shape the squadron operational structures. The operational design of the current squadrons are then examined to see how they are structured to respond to these organizational constraints. This paper analyzes both sides of the consolidation issue and proposes four combined community organizations. Additionally, the advantages and disadvantages of each new structure are reviewed to make recommendations on consolidating the HS and HSL communities. This study also recommends a Project Action Team be formed to continue analyzing the consolidation of these communities and outline the steps required to implement a consolidation plan
