dc.description.abstractThis thesis presents a computer based multiobjective optimization model to help Manpower Management Enlisted Assignment Branch at Headquarters Marine Corps to assign Marine recruits to occupational training. The model is a zero-one integer program. It is solved in two phases: in phase one an elasticized linear program with relaxed integrality constraints is solved to calculate the optimal fill of the training classes. These optimal values are used to compute integer lower and upper bounds on the fill of the classes for a network model which is solved in phase two, yielding an integer solution. The model is implemented in GAMS. It was tested with real data of 461 recruits and 65 training classes on a mainframe computer and on several 386/486 based Personal Computers.en_US
