Design report of hybrid compressor and associated test rig
Abstract
The report presents the aerodynamic calculations and describes the mechanical features of a test rig that has been designed at the Turbopropulsion Laboratory, Department of Aeronautics, for research work on a special type of centrifugal compressor. This so-called Hybrid compressor consists of a centrifugal rotor with 180 deg flow deflection in the meridional plane followed by an axial flow diffusor. The report establishes a method to predict the off-design performance of the compressor, which can be applied also to conventional centrifugal compressors. Extensive use is made of modern programmable calculators, and programs are presented to show the effectiveness of these tools in engineering endeavors. (Author)

Flow into a transonic compressor rotor: Part 1 - Analysis
Shreeve, Raymond P. (Monterey, California. Naval Postgraduate School, 1974-08); NPS-57Sf7408lAn analytical representation is given for the axisymmetric 2 -dimensional flow field at the face of a transonic rotor. Streamlines computed for irrotatational inviscid flow are closely approximated using a curve-fittin ... -
An Experimental and Computational Investigation of Oscillating Airfoil Unsteady Aerodynamics at Large Mean Incidence
Capece, Vincent R.; Platzer, Max F. (2003-03);A major challenge in the design and development of turbomachine airfoils for gas turbine engines is high cycle fatigue failures due to flutter and aerodynamically induced forced vibrations. In order to predict the aeroelastic ... -
Aerodynamic design of symmetrical blading for three-stage axial flow compressor test rig
Vavra, Michael Hans (Monterey, California. Naval Postgraduate School, 1970-09-01); NPS-57VA70091AThe report deals with the aerodynamic design of an axial compressor stage with symmetrical bladings for a research program to investigate tip clearance effects in a three-stage compressor. It establishes the blading data ...
