Marine gas turbine control methods which are presently utilized are adequate for their purpose but do not optimize performance, economy, or maintainability of the shipboard engineering plant. This paper reviews the developments in marine gas turbine propulsion analysis and control since 1975. The review shows that technological advances now present the opportunity to improve present control systems, translating to maneuverability and performance improvements as well as operating cost reduction
