dc.description.abstract | Naval aviators who employ night vision goggles (NVG) face additional risks during nighttime operations. In an effort to reduce these risks, increased training with NVGs is suggested. Our goal was to design a computer-based, interactive multimedia system that would assist in the training of pilots who use NVGs. This thesis details the methods and techniques used in the development of the NVG multimedia prototype. It describes which hardware components and software applications were utilized as well as how the prototype was developed. Several facets of multimedia technology (sound, animation, video and three dimensional graphics) have been incorporated into the interactive prototype. For a more robust successive prototype, recommendations are submitted for future enhancements that include alternative methodologies as well as expanded interactions.
