This work constitutes a survey investigation of the LI carrier
system employed by the Bell Telephone Company for transmission of
telephone messages. Although the system is being used experimentally
for television transmission no comprehensive program of commercial
application is presently being carried out; such a program should materialize
in the very near future. For this reason emphasis has been placed
on the voice transmission aspects of the system. It should be evident
however that minor changes in equipment will also provide for a wide
band television transmission.
