dc.description.abstractAn intranet is a computer network based on the data communication standards of the World Wide Web. These standards can contribute to enhance communication, collaboration, and information distribution within this organization. The adoption and implementation of this technology by industry has been swift, and broad, a organizations have quickly recognized the benefits to be realized from this technology for new organizational networks. This study presents a review of the Republic of China Navy's (ROCN) future intranet implementation and its potential applications. The first three chapters address the characteristics of intranet technologies, its pros anc cons, its implementation issues, and the impact of the technologies on the Republic of China Navy Headquarters The current information technology environment of the Republic of China Navy is reviewed. Some potential intranet applications are discussed in the Chapter IV. Recommendations are presented in the last chapter. These recommendations include more emphasis on information technology education in the ROCN. The overal conclusion of the study is that the ROCN leadership should embrace information technology at the highest level Without a good implementation plan to manage and predict the growth of the information technology the Republic of China Navy will fall to realize this resource in the futureen_US
