Real time simulation of the time-dependent behavior of low power thermal reactors is amenable to analog computer techniques. This paper presents the basic physical concepts relative to thermal reactor operation, a derivation of the governing transient equations noting simplifying assumptions, and the development of the analogous electrical circuit to ultimately provide solutions to these equations. In addition, many special problems involved in the simulation of a specific reactor are discussed and analyzed in detail.
