dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this paper was to report on a survey conducted by the University of Florida for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The survey analyzed the productivity rates used by the FDOT to determine contract duration with respect to highway construction contracts. The survey also reported on some of the factors that affect productivity. A questionnaire was sent to each FDOT Resident Engineer to survey the current productivity rates that are being achieved by contractors. The contractor productivity rates where then compared to the current productivity rates used by the FDOT, and recommended changes are offered. Also included in this paper are discussions concerning the importance of productivity in the construction industry, and the importance of using productivity to estimate contract duration and construction costs. | en_US |
