Search and Detection (5th ed.) Workbook

This workbook is intended to accompany the text "Search and Detection" (5 ed.), by Alan Washburn. Most sheets act as functions with inputs and outputs, with the input cells being colored green and the output cells yellow. If Solver is employed, the objective cell will be pink and the adjustable cells will be blue. See color comment in cell K2 of this sheet by floating your cursor over it. Green cells invite your input and you may wish to change blue cells if you feel like outguessing Solver. Otherwise, as ageneral rule, no changes should be made. If something does not function correctly, please contact the author by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) explaining the difficulty and the version of Excel that you are using. This workbook is not protected. You may wish to open it and "Save as..." some other name so that you will retain an unmodified copy. You may need to "add in" Solver and enable macros the first time you use this workbook. Photo shows an aircraft of a type (C130) frequently used for maritime search.
