Abstract
[10 May 2007]. In this Viewpoints interview, Ellis Stanley, General Manager, City of Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Department discusses how the field has evolved from cold-war practices of emergency management to modern policy development in the age of terrorism. Mr. Stanley addresses the need to conduct hazard analysis from a regional perspective and the ability to respond to a crisis in a coordinated fashion, engaging not just state, local and national governmental agencies but also the general public.
