These words of Thomas Friedman haunted me as I watched the mind-numbing devastation at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. I remembered feeling very unsettled when I had first read them. Friedman’s thesis is compelling. The Age of Globalization is creating great upheavals in our lives. As a new international system reliant on the democratization of technology. finance, decision-making and information, globalization is replacing the Cold War system and creating unprecedented interdependencies among the world’s people, businesses, and governments (Friedman, 2000). The national and organizational boundaries that once separated us are becoming less important than the networks of national and international relationships that bind us together. Interdependent, global activities are linking all aspects of our economic, political, and social lives. The Transformative Power of Dialogue, Volume 12, pages 3-24.
