dc.description.abstractThe report describes stroboscopic Schlieren photographic observations of flows of air around an airfoil oscillating sinusoidally about a fixed angle of attack. This Is one in a continuing series of studies of the effects of compressibility on dynamic stall - studies motivated by previous observations that an airfoil can be made to produce greater lift by oscillating it through a range that Includes angles of attack greater than the static stall angle but that compressibility significantly affects dynamic stall and can result In a net reduction in lift.en_US
