Transmission/Absorption in an Absorbing Medium
Abstract
This interactive tutorial covers the following: A review of key equations for transmission of light, The visualization of light absorption in semiconductors, Optimized detector design (an exercise that involves the design of a two layer, two color detector)The interactions in this tutorial involve students changing inputs to variables, and observing the fractions of light reflected, absorbed, and transmitted. There is also a true/false self-check quiz at the end of the tutorial.
