It is a good general rule when giving a talk to non-experts to talk about what you know best. Since I am a mathematician that means that I should talk about mathematics. It is a further good rule to talk about one's own experiences and not about other's. I shall not, therefore, apologize for talking about what I did, but simply assume that you realize that no other approach is so effective in communicating what it is to be a mathematician, and the role of mathematics in the modern world.
