dc.descriptionOffical Navy Photograph. Richard F. Wolfe, USN, Son of Mr. Fred V. Wolfe, 904 North Stanley Avenue, Hollwood, California receives two Gold Stars in lieu of second and third distinguished Flying Crosses and six Gold Stars in place of six Air Medals, from Captain Frank T. Watkins, USN, Commanding Officer of the U.S. Naval School, General Line, at Monterey, California during recent ceremonies. LIeutanant Commander Wolfe, presently a student at the Navy's newest Training School, recived the awards for Meritorious Action as Pilot pf a Dive Bomber in the Solomon Islands Area from August 1943 thru April 1944. Competing 60 combat missions during this period, Wolfe destroyed or damanged many Japanese installations in spite of Anti-Aircarft and Air opposition.en_US
