Liquid Nitrogen Cannon at the Naval Postgraduate School [video]
Abstract
NPS Physics has a liquid nitrogen cannon! We break out this fun demonstration at least 2 times a year. The nitrogen turns to gas as the water heats to its boiling point -- 320 degrees below zero -- and the resulting "cannon" effect launches tennis balls into the air with a resounding boom.
