dc.description.abstractA pipe with external insulation contains a flowing fluid at constant temperature. Suddenly there is a jump in inlet fluid temperature. The subsequent temperature distribution in the fluid and in the pipe is studied by means of perturbation expansions, one of which is singular. Simplifying assumptions are explicitly stated. Some extensions and unifications of previous work are found.en_US
