Three-Dimensional Fibre-Optics LDV Measurements in the Endwall Region of a Linear Cascade of Controlled-Diffusion Stator Blades
MetadataShow full item record
Measurements were taken of the vortex system and turbulent flow that results from the Interaction between a stator blade tip and the approaching endwall boundary layer in a linear cascade of controlled-diffusion compressor stator blades. Data were taken at Reynolds numbers based on stator blade chord of 240000 and 711000. Total pressure measurements were first conducted upstream and downstream of the blades row. The approaching boundary layer was characterized and the downstream vortex locations were measured in detail. Upstream and downstream three-dimensional fibre-optic laser Doppler velocimetry surveys were conducted to measure the velocity profiles of the approaching boundary layer and to map the location and velocity characteristics of the downstream wake and vortex system. Results clearly show the effect that the overall secondary flow in the blade passages has on the location of the two oppositely rotating vortices.
