The effect of water injection on the educational gas turbine.
Abstract
During the course of the study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the gas turbine field, one
of the major limitations of gas turbine application was discussed very frequently. That limitation was
the fact that the gas turbine has a very limited range of operation due to the very small margin between the gross work of the turbine and the gross work of the compressor. This margin, or net work, increases as turbine inlet temperatures increase, but the maximum temperatures at the turbine inlet are limited by available materials.
