This study shall be a morale survey--but one limited to the extent that the field of supervisor-supervised relations alone shall be explored. ... In addition this study shall embrace the attitudes of Navy and civilian personnel, male and female, in various levels of supervision towards their immediate supervisors. In order to measure these attitudes it is necessary to construct an instrument. This instrument will be in the form of a questionnaire. Criterion material for the questionnaire will be obtained from the following sources: (a) review of the literature in the field of supervisory and interpersonal relationships; and (b) from "guided interviews" with a group of experienced Navy and civilian supervisors, both male and female. The completed questionnaire will be administered to an experimental group of Navy and civilian, male and female personnel in various levels and under various types of supervision. The reliability of the instrument will be determined by use of the products-moment method.. Those areas of least conflict in the field of supervisory relations in each group and between the various groups will be noted.
