The nature of operations, variety of missions and
configurations, and requirement for rapid response of fleet
tactical aircraft has given rise to a unique problem
within the Naval Aviation community, this being the interface
between the aircrews and the aircraft performance prediction
information supplied via charts and data in the Naval Air
Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) Manuals. The data presented are not optimally used due
to the method of presentation and the time and effort
required to extract useful predictions. This investigation
addressed the problem by developing a suitable method
of NATOPS curve presentation that has sufficient
simplicity and accuracy for application to current compact
computers. The procedure is defined and numerical
algorithms produced which demonstrate the feasibility
and desirability of this type of implementation.
