dc.description.abstract | Recent studies have shown that the data processing industry has a very severe problem to solve. In the next few years there is going to be an extensive increase in millions of instructions per second (MIPS) available due to increases in hardware technology. It is imperative that the software development industry find ways to utilize this capability. Increased programmer productivity is the key. This thesis introduces the Information Center concept that will allow management to better utilize existing data processing capability by providing users the tools required for increased software productivity. An actual government installation is used as an example of using a modern Systems Analysis approach in the installation of an Information Center. Industry trends are discussed and the debate of centralization versus decentralization presented. | en_US |
