The U.S. Navy has recently institutionalized procedures for conducting organization development interventions within the operating forces. This effort is being executed by Human Resource Management Centers and Detachments (HRMC/D). The technology employed by the HRMC/D is explored in a case study of an intervention into a surface combatant. The case is analyzed and compared with conventional literature in the field. The comparison reveals that a greater emphasis is required by the Navy in achieving the necessary collaborative relationship between the client and the consultant. Recommendations for improving this deficiency and other aspects of the technology are proposed.en_US
