dc.descriptionThis collection was initially assembled by John Sanders during a period from 1984 to 2007 as working files in the Naval Postgraduate School Public Affairs Office (PAO). They were later transferred to the Dudley Knox Library (DKL) and placed in Special Collections & Archives. This collection consists of documents and photographs of notable NPS faculty, students, alumni and visiting dignitaries. The collection is currently located in Special Collections and Archives in the Dudley Knox Library.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe NPS Biographical Collection is a growing file that includes records from the early years of the institution to the present. It includes photocopy and original articles, audio and visual media, correspondence, memoranda, newspaper clippings, notes and newsletters, pamphlets, photographs and negatives, reports, speeches, and technical reports. Notable individuals in the collection are: Fleet Admirals Chester Nimitz and Ernest J. King; federal secretaries James Forrestal, Josephus Daniels, Dan Kimball, Leon Panetta, William Perry, Thomas White and James Roche; Admirals Arleigh Burke, Michael Mullen, James Watkins and Wayne Meyer; NPS astronaut alumni Scott Carpenter, Eugene Cernan, Dan Bursch and Alan Poindexter; Professors John Arquilla, George Haltiner, Richard Hamming, Wayne Hughes, Gordon McCormick, Michael Melich and Russ Stolfi; and dozens of U.S. military admirals and generalsen_US
