| dc.description | The calculation procedures to be discussed in subsequent sections of this book offer a means of solution to a wide variety of sparation problems. The very fact that they are so versatile, however, requires in their utilization a thorough understanding of the formulation or setting up of the separation problems. To set up or describe a separation problem to be calculated is simply to assign values to the number of independent variables needed to define the problem.
